    This video is hilarious and educational. I know the next time I find myself at a nomikai I will use “ma ma ma ma” and “ohto to to to.” Not to mention the proper hand placement when entering a building through a noren ;) Does this mean I should always have a ruler and protractor when entering a sushi-ya?

      maybe that’s a down-south thing, i only remember a “yosh” and a 1.5cm raising of the glass against the neck of the beer bottle to indicate acceptance and gratitude

        I think it’s really an older person thing, too. It’s something that Kocho and Kyoto and Jimicho sensei would do, but you don’t hear it so much from younger people. It’s also usually not a fully vocalized thing either, more of a subconcious under the breath thing. That’s why it’s funny to hear people explaining to say it while pouring.
