The 18-year-old, clad in long shorts and sneakers, wants a career as a military lawyer, but is aware he could be called up to fight in Iraq if he completes his basic training in time.
It’s a prospect he relishes. “You just want to pick up a gun and go down there and go crazy,” he said, expressing exasperation and indignation at the attacks on US forces in Iraq.
“We’re trying to help them out but a lot of them don’t seem to understand that.”
